IAN MCALPINE

19 year-old Ian McAlpine is studying biology and geography. He is originally from Houston, TX, but graduated high school from Corona Del Sol, in Tempe, AZ in 2004. Ian wrestled, boxed, and did Krav Maga through his sophomore and junior year of high school. While Ian was vacationing in France in the summer of 2003, he was involved in a freak accident. He was electrocuted by a power line, and stricken with over 2000 volts. Luckily he was hit between heartbeats allowing him to survive. He spent a week and a half in a French hospital, and was in and out of consciousness for days. Ian sustained third degree burns on twenty percent of his body, and was internally bleeding from both of his kidneys, liver, and spleen. Due to the injuries he was unable to participate in any physical contact sports for nine months. He made the best of the situation, and joined the theatre troupe at his high school, and was cast in every show his senior year. Since coming to ASU, Ian was able to regain his competitive edge. He loves being part of the team, and considers himself part of the American Pankration family. He wants to continue training with the coaching staff, and one day, compete in elite competitions. Ian’s has a number of future goals. He wants to become a fireman, be a CIA agent, and go into the NAVY as an officer, and become a Marine Biologist. Ian also looks forward to one day having his own family.
